4What should I expect at my first visit?
On your first visit, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome, complete a brief registration and chat through your dental history in a relaxed consultation. We’ll then perform a thorough examination – including mouth-cancer screening and any needed X-rays – and explain our findings. Finally, you’ll receive a clear, personalised treatment plan with all options and costs laid out up front, so you leave knowing exactly what’s next – no surprises, just patient-first care
5How often do I need a routine check-up and hygiene appointment?
We recommend a routine dental check-up every six months, which includes a full examination and mouth-cancer screening. For hygiene, most patients benefit from professional cleans twice a year, too – though if you’re at higher risk of gum disease or decay, we may suggest three or four-monthly visits to keep your smile in top form.
6What payment options, finance plans or insurance schemes do you offer?
We are passionate about providing great value for money to our patients, which is why we offer a range of options to keep costs as low as possible. We do offer 0% finance on some dental treatments Read about our fees and memberships here.
7Do you provide emergency or out-of-hours dental care?
If you have a dental emergency, we will do our best to see you on the same day. Please call us as early as possible to ensure we can allocate one of our emergency appointments to you. If you require dental assistance outside of our opening hours, please call the 24/7 dentist on 0330 175 9995 who will provide you with a private emergency appointment outside of normal working hours
8What treatments do you offer?
No matter what your age, we offer a comprehensive range of dental treatments, and everything you need to keep your smile healthy and bright. View our treatments here.
9Can you treat children and nervous or anxious patients?
Absolutely. We have lots of tricks up our sleeves for making children feel settled during dental visits and they are most welcome to have a ride in the big chair and choose a sticker. Parents can have one too if they behave – who doesn’t love a sticker?!
For nervous or anxious patients, we take extra care to make you feel at ease and have several techniques to help, including sedation if a friendly ear and calm chairside manner isn’t enough to calm your fears.
10Is mouth-cancer screening included in my check-up?
Yes – every routine check-up at Oakwood includes a full mouth-cancer screening at no extra cost. We carefully examine all your oral tissues and discuss any risk factors with you, so you can leave confident that any early warning signs are caught when treatment success rates are highest.
